NBS: China's Jan-August ROM iron ore output falls 8.8% YoY

China's run-of-mine (ROM) iron ore output totaled 602.2 million tonnes in the first eight months of this year, down 8.8% from the same period in 2025, according to the latest data from China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The pace of decline was broadly unchanged from the 8.7% on-year drop recorded during the January-July period, Mysteel Global noted. In August alone, domestic ROM iron ore output tumbled by around 15% on year to 67 million tonnes, marking the lowest monthly level since October 2018, the official data showed. By
