NBS: China's September CPI rises 0.9%, PPI gains 5% YoY

China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.9% in September from a year earlier and rose 0.2% from August, while the Producer Price Index (PPI) for the same month advanced by a marked 5% on year and gained 1.2% on month, according to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday.

China's CPI registered a faster on-year rise in September compared with the previous month, driven mainly by the strong price performance of energy and electronic devices, according to Dong Lijuan, a senior statistician at the NBS.
