The chairman of Indian module maker Solex called on the government to strengthen incentives for domestic solar manufacturing after China proposed curbs on selected technology exports, Business Standard reported on October 25. The report focused on India's limited upstream base in polysilicon, wafers and cells. For China, tighter technology transfer could slow overseas factory development and reduce equipment and process-licensing opportunities. It may also accelerate India's efforts to build alternative supply chains, increasing long-term competition for Chinese solar manufacturers.
