China's PE capacity to top 45 mln t/y by year-end amid startup wave

China's PE industry is entering a concentrated cycle of new capacity commissioning, with the newly added capacity estimated at 2.50 million t/y, and the total capacity will surpass 45 million t/y by the end of the year.

Spearheaded by the recent successful startup of Shandong Yulong Petrochemical's new unit, an estimated 2.50 million t/y of new polyethylene (PE) capacity will be unleashed over the next two months. This massive supply wave is set to push China's total PE capacity to 45.08 million t/y by year-end. Coupled
