The National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration approved formal operation of the Southern Regional Electricity Market. The approval calls for wider market participation, stronger interprovincial trading and rules adapted to renewable output. It also aims to bring all users outside the protected category into direct trading and improve coordination between regional grids. Formal operation should improve price signals and create more room to absorb solar output, supporting project revenues in South China. Delivery depends on trading rules, grid constraints and implementation by the Southern Power Grid and regulators.
