The project owned by Ausmine Group is estimated to cost US$1.4 billion and is able to produce 2 million tonnes nickel ore per year with a planned service life of 30 years. It is scheduled to start production by 2028. Once finished, the open pit mine and adjacent processing plant are expected to produce approximately 47,000 tonnes of nickel sulfate, 700 tonnes of cobalt sulfate and 89 tonnes of scandium oxide. These are key minerals needed to make batteries for the electric vehicle industry.
