UPDATE: More coal mines halts in NE China after fatal accident

More coal mines in Jixi city, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, suspended operations on December 21 after the deadly accident occurred at Kunyuan coal mine in Hengshan district of the city a day before has claimed 12 lives and caused 13 injured, Mysteel's latest survey has showed.

As of Friday, all coal mines, only excluding large state-owned mines, in Jixi were ordered by local authorities to halt production temporarily for rectification, impacting a combined coal production capacity of 13.03 million tonnes/year or about 44% of the city's total coal capacity, according to Mysteel's survey.
