NBS: Shanxi's raw coal output fall 6.9% in 2024, Inner Mongolia up 5.4%

Northern China's Shanxi province produced 1.27 billion tonnes of raw coal in 2024, falling 6.9% from the previous year, ceding the top producer title to neighboring Inner Mongolia, where production rose 5.4% to 1.3 billion tonnes, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed.

Shanxi's output fell short of its 1.3-billion-tonne target, largely due to an 18.5% on-year plunge in production during the first quarter.
