MONTHLY: Rising power costs cut China's FeSi output

China's ferrosilicon (FeSi) production declined further in January, falling by 7.46% compared to December to reach 471,400 tonnes, according to Mysteel's survey of the 136 independent smelters it tracks regularly. The smelters host 90% of the country's FeSi smelting capacity.
The most significant decrease was recorded among producers in Ningxia in Northwest China, one of the largest FeSi production hubs, where output was lower by a huge 28.9% from December at 78,200 tonnes, the survey showed.   This sharp decline in Ningxia's FeSi output was largely attributed to production cutbacks at
