MYSTEEL: Torrential rains take a toll on thermal coal supply in China's key hubs

Heavy rains have resulted in a temporary supply shortage of thermal coal in some of China's key producing regions, triggering a broad price rally in the pithead market, according to a Mysteel survey published on July 29.

The survey covering 45 thermal coal mines in Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia found that the impact of extreme weather on production, as well as the pace of recovery, varied significantly across regions.
