MYSTEEL: Several large thermal coal mines in NW China to cut output for 3-15 days

Between mid and late December at least eight thermal coal mines in Yulin, in Northwest China's Shaanxi province, plan to cut or suspend operations, the findings of a Mysteel survey published on December 10 show. The mines are taking the action because some are nearing their annual output limits, while others are responding to production controls tied to the National Energy Administration's overproduction inspections, survey respondents explained.

The eight mines have a combined capacity of 78 million tonnes/year. Their voluntary production cuts vary by mine and will last from three to 15 days. Most mines will use the downtime for facility maintenance as they prepare for next year's operations, the survey found. Among them, Xiwan coal mine
