WEEKLY: China's EAF production rises, mini-mills' profits improve

After retreating during the previous week, production among Chinese electric-arc-furnace (EAF) steel producers rebounded during November 21-27, the results of Mysteel's latest survey showed. The significant recovery in steel profits led the mills to boost production, Mysteel Global noted.

During the latest survey week, the average capacity utilization rate among the 90 independent EAF steel producers under Mysteel's regular tracking increased by 1.2 percentage points on week to reach 52.7%, while their average operational rate remained unchanged from the previous period at 69.1%.
