WEEKLY: Chinese EAF mills' production recovers

After falling in the previous week, steel production among China's electric-arc-furnace (EAF) steelmakers increased again during December 26 2025-January 1 2026, with more mills finishing their maintenance work, the results of Mysteel's survey showed.
During the latest survey period, the average capacity utilization rate among the 90 independent EAF steel producers under Mysteel's regular tracking rebounded by 1.9 percentage points on week to reach 55.2%, while their average operational rate also went up by 1 percentage point from the prior week to 68.6%.     Some
