WEEKLY: China's met coke makers lift coking coal purchases to avoid higher costs

The 230 independent metallurgical coke producers throughout China regularly monitored by Mysteel accelerated their buying of coking coal during the survey week to January 15 as prices of the raw material rose rapidly, Mysteel's latest survey showed.
As of January 15, the combined coking coal stocks held by the 230 surveyed producers had surged to nearly a one-year high at 9.55 million tonnes, up 4.7% from the previous week, Mysteel's data showed. The pace at which the coke makers were amassing the feeds was also considerably
