MYSTEEL: More than 40% Chinese BF mills earn profits on steel sales

The number of profitable blast-furnace (BF) steel mills in China has increased recently, mainly thanks to a recovery in finished steel prices and despite the slight rise in steel production costs, Mysteel Global learned.
On March 12, about 41% of the 247 sampled BF mills had reported making a profit on finished steel sales, increasing by 3 percentage points from one week earlier and marking the highest number since November 2025, according to Mysteel's latest weekly survey.     The improvement in Chinese BF mills' profitability
