On April 9, the price of electrolytic cobalt moved up Yuan 4,227/tonne to Yuan 409,773-412,136/tonne from the previous trading day. Moreover, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride continued to remain flat at Yuan 95,000/t-98,000/t and 114,000-119,000/t respectively.Supported firmly by raw material costs, mainstream cobalt sulfate smelters showed a clear intention to hold prices firm. However, downstream manufacturers exhibited strong resistance to high prices, keeping the mainstream transaction price stable at around Yuan 93,000/tonne. The transaction price of cobalt chloride remained steady at approximately Yuan 115,000/tonne. Some producers opted for low-priced cobalt sulfate as raw material, while others lacking raw materials have halted production for maintenance. Meanwhile, downstream Co3O4 buyers had limited purchasing capacity, and market inquiries were scarce. As a result, both market offers and transaction prices were trending downward.
