DAILY: China's thermal coal edges higher, but gains capped in off-season

China's portside thermal coal market extended the mildt upward trend on April 10, driven by selective buying interest and firm cost support, though overall demand remained subdued with no clear signs of pre-summer restocking, market sources said.

On Friday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg, 5000 kcal/kg, and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades at Yuan 764/tonne ($111.9/t), Yuan 680/t, and Yuan 592/t, respectively, on a FOB northern ports basis with VAT, all up by Yuan 2/t from a day prior. Throughout last week, the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR grade
