On April 14, the price of electrolytic cobalt rose Yuan 3,409/tonne to Yuan 408,818-411,136/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride continued to remain unchanged at Yuan 95,000/t-98,000/t and 114,000-119,000/t respectively.Supported firmly by raw material costs, mainstream smelters of cobalt sulfate showed a clear intention to hold prices firm. However, downstream manufacturers exhibited strong resistance to high prices, and the mainstream market transaction price remained around Yuan 93,000/tonne. Meanwhile, the transaction price of cobalt chloride was stable at approximately Yuan 115,000/tonne. Some producers opted for low-priced cobalt sulfate as a raw material, while certain producers lacking raw materials have halted production for maintenance. Meanwhile, the downstream Co3O4 sector had limited purchasing capacity, and market inquiries were scarce, leading to declines in both market offers and transaction prices.
