On May 14, the market price of electrolytic cobalt declined Yuan 1,518/tonne to Yuan 421,818-424,909/tonne. Meanwhile, the price of cobalt sulfate moved down Yuan 1,000/tonne to 92,000/t-95,000/t, while that of cobalt chloride continued to be flat at 113,000-118,000/t.Supported strongly by raw material costs, mainstream smelters of cobalt sulfate had a clear intention to hold prices firm. However, downstream manufacturers exhibited a strong inclination to drive prices down, while quotations from small and medium-sized producers remained temporarily stable. With limited restocking of ternary precursors, some mainstream transaction prices have fallen below Yuan 90,000/tonne. Purchases from other downstream industries remained stable, supporting consistent transactions.
