CBOT soybean futures fell for six consecutive sessions to a four-month low. On one hand, favorable US weather weighed on prices good crop conditions and expectations of beneficial rainfall in the US Midwest reinforced prospects for a bumper new crop. Funds continued to sell off, significantly reducing long positions, and technical selling added further pressure. On the other hand, the combination of South American harvest pressure and weak US soybean export demand dampened market sentiment. US soybean exports remain seasonally sluggish. The US Department of Agriculture's (USDA) weekly export sales report for the week ending May 28 showed net export sales of 276,852 tonnes of US soybeans for the current marketing year, down 8% from the previous week and below market expectations. Fundamental pressures clearly amplified the downside move.
