DAILY: China's thermal coal slide decelerates as sentiment shifts

China's thermal coal downtrend eased on July 8, with price declines narrowing notably from prior sessions, as portside sentiment turned cautiously optimistic.

On Wednesday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 804/tonne ($118.3/t), FOB with VAT, down Yuan 4/t from Tuesday – a marked deceleration from the Yuan 7-8/t drops seen earlier in the week. The 5,000 kcal/kg NAR grade fell Yuan 5/t to Yuan 710/t,
