China's thermal coal rally lost steam during the week of July 20-24, with prices nudging higher at a noticeably slower pace amid weakening demand growth and ongoing inventory builds at ports.

As of July 24, Mysteel assessed the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 825/tonne ($121.9/t) FOB northern ports, inclusive of VAT, up Yuan 6/t from a week earlier. This marked a slowdown from the Yuan 17/t gain recorded over the prior week (July 10–17). The 5,000 kcal/kg
