FEATURE: Nippon Steel hails new Nagoya HSM but questions remain

Japan's largest steelmaker, Nippon Steel, has celebrated the completion of a new hot strip mill at its Nagoya works in central Japan that will produce ultra-high-tensile steel sheets -- sheets with 1.0 GPa tensile strength -- mainly for automotive applications. But the formal commissioning on August 6, attended by senior central and local government officials, took place in a very different world to when the project was first conceived.
