Thermal coal prices at China's northern transfer ports rose for the eighth consecutive day on August 11, but traders warn of waning momentum, with the clearest signal coming from the pithead, where sellers face stiffening buyer pushback.

On Tuesday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 859/tonne ($126.7/t) FOB with VAT, marking a Yuan 5/t increase from Monday.
