CBOT soybeans closed marginally lower on Thursday, as the impact of the USDA's August WASDE report released on Wednesday continued to unfold. The 2026/27 U.S. soybean yield forecast was lowered to 52.7 bushels per acre, down from July's 53 bushels and below market expectations of 52.9 bushels. However, total production was raised to 4.519 billion bushels due to an upward revision in harvested acreage, exceeding market forecasts. Ending stocks were estimated at 320 million bushels, above the market consensus of 304 million bushels. On Thursday, private exporters reported another sale of 125,000 metric tons of new-crop soybeans to China, marking the third consecutive day of such announcements. On the weather front, beneficial rainfall of 12 inches is expected across key production areas in the Midwest over the coming week. Meanwhile, Brazil's CONAB lowered its 2025/26 soybean production estimate by 180,000 metric tons to 180.46 million tonnes.
