Tin prices rose on August 17. According to Mysteel, the quoted price of 1# tin ingot stood at Yuan 429,500–433,500/t, averaging Yuan 431,500/t, increasing by Yuan 4,000/t. In market trading, traders quoted prices in line with the market and reported that shipments became difficult once prices rose above Yuan 430,000/tonne, with most traders recording transaction volumes below 10 tonnes. Downstream enterprises showed weak interest in raw material procurement and low acceptance of current high prices. Amid the consumption off-season, incremental end-user orders were also limited, leaving overall market trading subdued. Looking ahead, renewed U.S.-Iran geopolitical tensions and the expiration of the two countries' peace agreement with no willingness to extend may cause inflation to rebound and affect the Fed's future monetary policy. In the short term, macro factors are increasing downward pressure on tin prices; combined with weak market consumption weighing on prices, tin prices are likely to fluctuate with a bearish bias today.
