DAILY: Shanxi's coking coal supply stays tight despite mine restart progress

Several more coking coal mines in Shanxi, China's top coal-producing hub, are reportedly slated to resume production in the near term. However, the sluggish operational pace at currently active mines continues to underscore persistent supply tightness, which lent further upside momentum to coal prices on August 17.

Another four mines in Shanxi's Qinyuan county have reportedly secured approval to restart, with production resuming after 4–5 days of mandatory training, according to market sources. The four mines, with a total capacity of 4.5 million tonne/year, mainly supply low-sulfur low-volatile primary coking coal, mid-sulfur meagre-lean coal, and high-sulfur
