DAILY: China's coking coal prices maintain strong upward momentum

China's coking coal market saw widespread price hikes from miners across major producing hubs on August 18, while near-term sentiment among market participants remained bullish.

The Mysteel Coking Coal Index (MCCI), which tracks coking coal prices nationwide in China, firmed to Yuan 1,813.2/tonne ($268.9/t) including the 13% VAT on Tuesday, soaring by Yuan 26.6/t from the previous session. "Purchasing activity has picked up markedly among coal traders, coking plants, and steel mills, propelling sharp price gains,"
