Tin prices rose on August 20. According to Mysteel, the quoted price of 1# tin ingot stood at Yuan 424,000–427,000/t, averaging Yuan 425,500/t, increasing by Yuan 5,500/t. In market trading, buying interest from downstream producers weakened after the price increase; most enterprises had already replenished raw material inventories earlier, and incremental end-user orders remained limited. As a result, tin ingot spot trading was quiet and volumes were poor. Looking ahead, the U.S. dollar index trading at low levels should provide some short-term support for tin prices. However, downstream purchasing interest is expected to remain weak given high prices and limited incremental end-user orders. Overall, tin prices are expected to fluctuate with a slightly stronger bias in the short term.
