Last week, the cobalt salt market continued its weak off-season performance, with the market price accelerating its decline. In terms of cobalt sulfate, low-cost resources such as recycled materials and re-dissolved electrolytic cobalt continued to be released on the supply side. A few producers with a strong willingness to sell significantly reduced their quotations, pulling down the overall transaction prices. Downstream ternary precursor manufacturers had insufficient orders and only made small purchases to meet rigid demand, leaving the market without support from substantial bulk transactions. Cobalt chloride, dragged down by persistently weak demand for Co3O4 and the substitution effect of cheaper cobalt sulfate, saw persistently thin trading. On the cost front, the spot profit margin for cobalt sulfate remained negative, with losses widening further.
