On August 18, the market price of electrolytic cobalt increased Yuan 23/tonne to Yuan 316,909-320,136/tonne. In addition, the market price of cobalt chloride remained stable at Yuan 87,000-89,000/tonne, while that of cobalt sulfate declined Yuan 1,000/tonne to Yuan 74,000/t-76,000/tonne.Yesterday, the cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate markets as a whole exhibited a pattern of prices remaining weak but stable while trading remained thin. For cobalt chloride, the characteristic of nominal quotations without actual transactions was pronounced. Although offers held steady, actual spot trading was extremely scarce and nearly at a standstill. For cobalt sulfate, the price decline led to weaker cost support.The weakness of these two major cobalt salts is a microcosm of the broader cobalt market's weak-stable and wait-and-see stance. The market is currently in the traditional off-season for consumption.
