WEEKLY: Aust., Brazilian iron ore shipments pull back on week

After rising in the previous week, the total volume of iron ore dispatched to global destinations from the 20 ports and 17 mining companies in Australia and Brazil retreated during August 17-23, albeit by a small 224,000 tonnes or 0.9%, to reach 25.9 million tonnes, according to Mysteel's tracking.

Behind the decrease was the large reduction in Brazil's iron ore shipments, as the volume sent worldwide from the country's nine ports slumped by 1.3 million tonnes or 15.1% on week to 7.2 million tonnes, among which the volume shipped by Vale fell 431,000 tonnes or 7.1% on week
