DAILY: China's thermal coal drifts lower as Daqin rail volumes recover

China's portside thermal coal market drifted lower on September 14 as rail inbound volumes from producing regions recovered and buyers pressed for discounts, though many participants saw little room for deep falls.

On Monday, Mysteel assessed the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 983/tonne ($146.5/t) FOB with VAT, down Yuan 2/t from last Friday. The 5,000 kcal/kg NAR grade fell Yuan 3/t to Yuan 891/t and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR lost Yuan 5/t to Yuan 803/t. At
