Tin prices moved sideways on September 29. Mysteel's survey of the Shanghai market 1# tin ingot transaction price (15:30) at Yuan 408,000–411,000/t, averaging Yuan 409,500/t, unchanged from the previous trading day. After earlier restocking, downstream pre-holiday stockpiling was largely ending, buying interest weakened markedly, and only a few enterprises made essential purchases. Overall market activity was sluggish. Downstream feedback showed end-user demand mostly remained need-based, with muted buying sentiment. Looking ahead, the high U.S. dollar index is capping tin prices, but China's intensive consumption stimulus, feedstock shortages, and maintenance at leading smelters are expected to keep post-holiday downside support intact, with prices likely to stay rangebound at high levels.
