WEEKLY: Chinese EAF mills' production edges down slightly

Production of Chinese electric-arc-furnace (EAF) steelmakers retreated slightly during October 15-21 as some mini-mills initiated production cuts due to persistent margin losses, findings of Mysteel's latest survey showed.

In the latest survey period, the average capacity utilization rate among the 94 independent EAF steel producers under Mysteel's tracking fell by 0.16 percentage point on week to sit low at 59.36%, while their average operational rate also dropped 0.59 percentage point from the prior week to 72%. The decrease in production was observed mainly
