Imports
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's aluminum extrusion imports in September totaled 1,788.26 tonnes, up 19.02% month-on-month (MoM) but down 11.20% year-on-year (YoY).
In terms of import sources, China's aluminum extrusion imports in September continued to be mainly sourced from Taiwan, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Taiwan ranked first with 463.11 tonnes, accounting for 25.90% of total imports, a decrease of 12.97% MoM. The United States followed in second place with 429.22 tonnes, accounting for 24% of total imports, up 54.59% MoM. Japan ranked third with 235.01 tonnes, accounting for 13.14% of total imports, up 34.52% MoM.
Although Taiwan maintained the top position, its MoM decline may have been affected by delivery delays and slower order pacing. The notable MoM increases from the United States and Japan indicate strong domestic rigid demand for high-precision, automotive-grade, and electronic equipment aluminum extrusions, with overall imports characterized by "small volume but high-end structure". The 11.20% YoY decline also suggests that against the backdrop of a weak real estate sector and insufficient demand for traditional building extrusions, the growth in high-end imports has not been enough to reverse the overall contraction trend in imports.
Exports
According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC), China's aluminum extrusion exports in September totaled 92,678.12 tonnes, up 0.20% MoM and 26.52% YoY.
In terms of provincial export volumes, China's aluminum extrusion exports in September were mainly from Guangdong, Shandong, Fujian, and Jiangsu. Guangdong Province exported 42,555.29 tonnes, accounting for 45.92% of total exports, up 0.40% MoM. Shandong followed with 12,520.11 tonnes, accounting for 13.51% of total exports, down 2.80% MoM. Fujian exported 6,957.83 tonnes (7.51% share), while Jiangsu exported 5,270.11 tonnes (5.69% share), up 32.96% MoM.
Guangdong alone accounted for nearly 46% of exports, indicating that China's aluminum extrusion exports are highly dependent on the Pearl River Delta industrial cluster. Jiangsu's 32.96% MoM surge is particularly noteworthy; this may be related to increased orders for industrial extrusions, rail transit, and new energy equipment, also signaling the growing export competitiveness of the East China region.
In terms of export destinations, China's aluminum extrusions in September were mainly exported to Malaysia, Vietnam, Israel, and Australia. The largest export market was Malaysia with 7,277.68 tonnes (7.85% share), down 8.39% MoM. Vietnam followed with 7,180.58 tonnes (7.75% share), up 7.94% MoM. Israel ranked third with 5,637.59 tonnes (6.08% share), down 10.73% MoM. Exports to Australia totaled 4,793.56 tonnes (5.17% share), up 27.05% MoM.
Malaysia and Vietnam ranked as the top two destinations, reflecting continued demand from Southeast Asian infrastructure, factories, photovoltaic projects, and transit demand substituting for European and American orders. Australia's 27.05% MoM growth, achieved despite long-standing anti-dumping and countervailing (AD/CVD) duties, demonstrates that Chinese extrusions have maintained resilience through pricing, delivery times, and customer diversification. However, they will continue to face constraints from AD/CVD duty rates going forward.
