On October 30, the market price of electrolytic cobalt rose Yuan 1,000/tonne to Yuan 204,727-207,909/tonne. In addition, the market prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate both remained stable at 54,000-56,000/tonne and Yuan 44,000/t-46,000/tonne respectively.Cobalt salts continued their downtrend last week, with trading remaining persistently thin. Cobalt sulfate, hit by both cost collapse and scrap substitution, saw low-priced small-lot transactions fall to around Yuan 40,000/tonne. Downstream cathode plants mainly purchased for essential requirements, and spot volume remained limited. Cobalt chloride declined quietly on negligible volume, with indicative transaction prices tracking down to around Yuan 50,000/tonne. Long-term agreements prices also moved lower, and the market lacked effective buying support. On the cost side, cobalt salt prices lacked raw-material support, while substitution by recycled feedstock further suppressed demand for primary salts.
