WEEKLY: China SiMn output rises to 3-month high

Chinese silicomanganese (SiMn) output continued increasing over June 23-29, with the daily output among the 121 domestic smelters under Mysteel's regular survey averaging 32,434 tonnes/day, up 415 t/d on week and marking the highest since April. The 121 sampled smelters host 94% of the country's SiMn smelting capacity.

The production rush reflected the fact that smelters in northern China kept their production high as they could still gain some profits, thanks to their competitive smelting costs, while smelters in southern China were largely disinterested in ramping up production given their losses on SiMn sales, Mysteel Global learned.
