India: Met coke imports rise by 33% m-o-m in Dec on better import realization

In December 2023, India witnessed a 33% m-o-m increase in met coke imports, reaching 0.48 million tonnes (mnt) compared to 0.32 mnt in November 2023. This surge in imports was fueled by favourable import offers and a relatively higher availability of domestic materials.

The prices of Indian met coke experienced a decline from INR 37,000/t in November 2023 to INR 35,380/t in December 2023. Presently, Indian met coke prices are reported at INR 34,000-35,000/t ex-Jajpur, with marginal w-o-w changes attributed to competitive imported prices.
