FLASH: China Coal Energy's Q1 coal output down 1.7% YoY
Meanwhile, the company's commercial coal sales during the same quarter were also lower by 14.6% on year at 63.87 million tonnes, according to the report.
In March alone, China Coal Energy's commercial coal production declined by 7.5% on year but rose 3.9% on month to reach 10.83 million tonnes.
The same month, its commercial coal sales fell by 16.9% from a year ago to 23.97 million tonnes. But on a monthly basis, the sales volume was higher by 31.1% from February.
The on-month growths in both coal output and sales in March were mainly attributed to the low bases in February, when the company's operation was disrupted by the eight-day Chinese New Year holiday in the month, Mysteel Global noted.
China Coal Energy mainly produces thermal coal and also some coking coal, and its parent company China National Coal Group Corporation holds over 76 billion tonnes of coal reserves, with coal production capacity totaling 300 million tonnes/year, Mysteel Global learns from public information.
