Baosteel's new casings successfully applied in offshore gas drilling

Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. (Baosteel), a subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group, has successfully applied its self-manufacturednew-type steel casings in an offshore oil and gas drilling project, which marks a breakthrough for Chinese steelmakers to develop and produce such advanced casings for high-pressure high-temperature (HPHT) ultra deepwater wells domestically, the Shanghai-listed company stated in a public release on July 30.

The steelmaker began developing the BGT3-HT high-torque sealed casing in early 2022. The new casings have now been deployed in the Bohai Sea gas field in northeast China and have already resulted in the successful production of high-yield oil and gas streams on site.
