China starts 20 aluminum projects in Feb
Among these, the largest project by capacity and investment is the fine alumina production base of Weiqiao Pioneering Group, the parent company of leading Chinese aluminum producer China Hongqiao Group. With a total investment of Yuan 25.62 billion ($3.5 billion), the production base located in East China's Shandong province began construction on February 24. Once completed, it will have an annual alumina production capacity of 8 million tonnes, including more than 1 million tonnes of fine alumina, as reported.
Another large project is an aluminum supply chain facility in Guangxi autonomous region's Fangchenggang city which began pile foundation construction on February 26. Backed by an investment of Yuan 20 billion from Xinjiang Joinworld, a supplier of aluminum-based new materials, the project will build two alumina production lines, each with a capacity of 1.2 million tonnes per year.
For aluminium-alloy projects, Lizhong Group put into production its aluminium alloy-based new materials project in Southwest China's Chongqing on February 6. The project has an annual capacity of 100,000 tonnes and a total investment of Yuan 600 million.
