IAI: Global primary Al output tops 6 million t in April

Global production of primary aluminium totalled 6.03 million tonnes in April, higher by 2.2% on year, according to the latest data released by the International Aluminium Institute (IAI). On a daily basis, primary aluminum output worldwide averaged 201,100 tonnes/day last month.

In April, China ranked first among all major primary aluminum smelting countries and regions worldwide, with its production reaching 3.62 million tonnes, up by 3.5% on year, according to IAI's estimate. The result was slightly lower than the data compiled by China's National Bureau of Statistics, which showed that the country's total aluminum production registered 3.75 million tonnes in April, higher by 4.2%
