Brazil renews and expands steel import tariffs and quotas

The Brazilian government has renewed its safeguard measures on steel imports for another 12 months, maintaining a 25% tariff on 19 steel products and extending the duty to four more, according to a May 27 announcement by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC).

Under the decision, made by the Executive Management Committee of the Foreign Trade Chamber (Gecex/Camex), an import quota system is also retained.
