Colombia's coal exports fall 36% YoY in April as key producers cut output

Colombia exported 3.9 million tonnes of coal in April, falling sharply by 35.6% from the same month in 2024, according to the latest data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia (DANE).
    The decline came after Anglo-Swiss commodities giant Glencore on March 25 announced a production cut of 5-10 million tonnes for 2025 at its Cerrejón mine, Colombia's largest opencast coal mine with an annual production capacity of 30 million tonnes per year.  Cerrejón had produced 19 million tonnes in 2024,
