Roy Hill and Atlas Iron unite to form Hancock Iron Ore

Hancock Prospecting, an Australian-owned mining and agricultural business, announced on June 12 that its flagship iron-ore businesses Roy Hill and Atlas Iron will be integrated into a single entity named Hancock Iron Ore, which is poised to become a competitive player in the global iron ore sector, the company said in a news release.

Roy Hill, an iron ore mining operation in Western Australia's Pilbara region, currently ships about 64 million tonnes/year of iron ore to steel making markets in nearby Asia, while Atlas Iron, another iron ore producer at Pibara, mines and exports about 10 million t/y of Pilbara iron ore, according
