FLASH: Tokyo Steel keeps product prices unchanged for September

"The international market continues to be in a state of turmoil. In addition, the impact of political instability and conflict in some regions, combined with the protectionist policies of each country, has made the environment surrounding steel-related products uncertain," the company said in its policy statement Monday morning.

"In the domestic market..., orders from construction companies continue to be selective, with small- and medium-sized projects affected in particular. Although the inventory level of construction steel in the market is generally low, cargo movements are sluggish nationwide, and market conditions are still softening," the company said.  

Holding its prices means that Tokyo Steel's price for 1.7-22mm hot rolled coil stays at Yen 89,000/tonne ($605/t), that for its 9-40mm thick heavy plates holds at Yen 100,000/t, its large 350x350 mm H-beams remain listed at Yen 117,000/t, and its price for D13-25mm rebars is still at Yen 85,000/t, according to its September policy statement.
