On August 28, the retired lithium-ion battery comprehensive utilization project, located in the Liuhe Circular Economy Industrial Park in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, was officially launched. This project is a joint venture by NanJing Public Utilities Development Co.,Ltd., Nanjing Environmental Group, and Jiangxi Ganfeng Recycling Technology Co., Ltd.
The project, with a total investment of Yuan 500 million and covering an area of 73 mu, focuses on the comprehensive utilization of retired lithium-ion batteries and battery cell rolls. It is managed and implemented by Nanjing Environmental Group, which will adopt specialized and large-scale processing methods to promote the efficient recycling of retired lithium battery resources. The first phase of the project is expected to begin trial operations by the end of this year.
Upon reaching full production capacity, the project will significantly enhance the local recycling level of power batteries, alleviate resource supply pressure in the upstream of the new energy industry chain, and provide resource support for the sustainable and healthy development of the new energy industry. Meanwhile, it will advance the "reduction, harmlessness, and resource recovery" of retired lithium batteries, drive the agglomeration and development of related upstream and downstream industries, and inject new momentum into the green circular economy.
