Vietnam's Hoa Phat commissions #2 BF at Dung Quat II project

The No.2 blast furnace (BF) of Dung Quat II Iron and Steel Production Complex project in central Vietnam's Quang Ngai province, initiated by the country’s leading steel producer, Hoa Phat Group (HPG) in early 2022, has produced its first batch of hot metal, marking the completion of the 3.5-year project, according to the latest announcement released by the Hanoi-based steelmaker on September 4.

The furnace has an inner volume of 2,500 cubic metres, identical to the No.1 furnace blown-in last December, each with a nominal annual hot metal production capacity of 2.5-2.8 million tonnes. Italian equipment provider Danieli Corus supplied the furnaces with the project's contractor, WISDRI Engineering & Research Inc., a subsidiary
