GACC: China's Jan-Aug ferrous scrap imports dip 1% YoY

China's imports of ferrous scrap totaled 174,242 tonnes during January-August this year, slightly lower by 1.1% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from the country's General Administration of Customs (GACC).

The 1.1% on-year drop over January-August actually narrowed from the 2.4% on-year decline recorded during the first seven months, reflecting China's larger scrap imports in August alone when compared with the same month in 2024, Mysteel Global notes. While China's scrap imports last month rose by 11.5% on year to
